Research projects

The staff of Colorectal and the pelvic floor surgery department is actively involved in the development and introduction of new technologies in colorectal and pelvic surgery in Russia.

In 2009 a grant research "Modern methods of diagnosis, functional-preserving and reconstructive-restorative surgery for colorectal cancer" was finished under the leadership of prof. Petr Tsarkov.

Currently, the following projects are being worked on:

1. A complex approach for diagnosis and surgical treatment of pelvic organ descent syndrome
2. Clinical and morphological evaluation of extended resections for locally advanced and recurrent rectal cancer
3. Immune regulation and systemic inflammatory response in patients after colonic resections
