Dear colleagues!

I invite you to participate in Fifth international conference "Russian School of Colorectal Surgery" that will take place on 23-24th of June 2011 in Radisson SAS Slavyanskaya in Moscow, Russia. Traditionally this event gathers hundreds of surgeons, coloproctologists, oncologists, gastroenterologists and other specialists from all over Russia, postsoviet and abroad countries. The most exciting peculiarity of this meeting is live surgery transmission that enables the participants to follow the surgical technique of the operating surgeon, ask questions and immidiatly get answers.

As opposed to previous conferences that were held as one-day meetings dedicated to certain narrow topic in colorectal cancer surgery, during the forthcoming two days of Fifth "Russian School of Colorectal Surgery" many questions of multidisciplinary treatment of rectal cancer will be discussed.

Besides the ability to watch meticulous technique of open and laparoscopic total mesorectal excision that will be presented by Bill Heald and Steven Wexner during live surgery sessions, you can learn modern standards of multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of rectal cancer patients. The most well-known MRI specialist for rectal cancer Gina Brown will present the algorythms of diagnostics, leading Russian and foreign radiation and chemo-oncologists will demonstrate new evidense-based data on the effectiveness of neoadjuvant treatment, and famous pathologist Phil Quirke will emphasize the importance of high quality pathologic specimen investigation for determination of patient prognosis. Different aspects of surgical treatment of rectal cancer will be highlighted by the father of TME technique Bill Heald, President elect of American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons Steven Wexner, well-known specialist in lateral lymph node dissection from Japan Yoshihiro Moriya, one of leading European hepato-biliary surgeons Daniel Azoulay.

And the special thrill of the meeting is the presentation of wonderful anatomy of rectum and pelvic floor, based on the splendid videos of cadaveric dissection performed by professor Ayhan Kuzu from Turkey. We hope that this fantastic work won't leave you indifferent and will encourage you to make a new step towards self-perfection in improving results of rectal cancer treatment for the best of our patients.

Looking forward to see you in Moscow,
